The Higher School Certificate Rules and Procedures guide must be read by all students entered for an HSC course. In signing your Confirmation of Entry (see section 4, ‘Entering for the Higher School Certificate'), you are certifying that you have read this guide. The Education Act 1990 (NSW) governs the award of the Higher School Certificate. The Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards NSW (BOSTES), under this Act, grants certificates to students who comply with the Act and the BOSTES requirements. The main rules and requirements for the Higher School Certificate are set out in this guide. Students can obtain more detailed explanations of the rules and requirements by referring to the Assessment Certification Examination website (ace.bos.nsw.edu.au).
