Belmore Boys High School had the honour and privilege of hosting the South Western Sydney SRC Inter Schools Group (ISG) Meeting on Tuesday 4th September 2013.

The ISG consists of SRC members and students leaders from local schools to discuss a theme and take back ideas to their school and initiate meaningful and productive activities and events. The them for 2013 is Multic ult u ralism and Anti-discrimination.

All ISG events are completely organised and run by SRC members. Three senior SRC members, Mustafa Salame and Mohamed Hijazi presented the days itinerary which involved activities around potatoes, stepping up to the "line" as well as scripting and directing their own short film.

Students were also involved in a live twitter feed during the event. Catch the conversation of twitter #SRCISG and follow @BelmoreBoysHS.

Belmore Boys provided a large multicultural and inclusive aspect and displayed acts from a few of the schools multicultural student groups. There was a traditional Moari welcome (powhira & hongi), the Haka, a traditional Cook Island Dance as well as our own rendition of Arabic drums (derbaka). A highlight of the day was a Smoking Ceremony which was performed by Uncle Max at the beginning of the day to ward off evil spirits, and cleanse and purify. Such a fantastic event to withhold!

Morning tea and lunch were multicultural events and included

Schools involved on the day included:

Merrylands High School
Sefton High School
Homebush Boys High School
Wiley Park Girls High School
Strathfield Girls High School
Granville South High School
Holroyd High School

The day culminated in the recording of groups short films about multiculturalism and anti-discrimination and a trivia contest about multiculturalism and world knowledge.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the day, and has paved the way for bigger and better Inter School Groups.

Belmore Boys High School would like to thank all schools and students who attended on the day and made the event such a success. Thank you.
